President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of bilateral cooperation with the Russian Federation during talks with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the press service of the Russian government reports.

The Head of Turkmenistan stressed that the countries are actively conducting a political dialogue, developing trade and economic relations, and continuing cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. Special attention is paid to the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties.

Relations between the regions occupy an important place in bilateral cooperation. Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the successful cooperation with the Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan Region and other subjects of the Russian Federation.

Mikhail Mishustin noted that today the priority task was to increase trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia. Mutual trade turnover is at the level of $1 billion and there is a potential for growth of economic cooperation.

The Russian Prime Minister also said that the countries successfully cooperate in mechanical engineering, energy and oil and gas complex, agriculture and digital economy.

Following the negotiations, 10 document were signed in the migration, educational, customs spheres, as well as on issues of fishing, plant quarantine and water use.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation in the fields of energy, oil and gas industry, construction, agriculture and in the development of digital technologies.
