At least three leading international humanitarian organizations have partially resumed their activities in Afghanistan after receiving assurances from the Taliban that Afghan women will be able to continue working in the health sector.

These are the organizations CARE, Save the Children, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which suspended their activities in Afghanistan at the end of December.

Save the Children is resuming some activities in Afghanistan, in particular in the areas of health and education, where "we have received clear and credible assurances from the relevant authorities that our female staff will be safe and able to work without hindrance," Save the Children said in a statement.

According to Agence France-Presse, IRC and CARE have also confirmed the resumption of work in the health sectors with the participation of female employees.

Earlier, Afghan Ministry of Economy spokesman Abdul Rahim Habib said that women should keep jobs in the health sector in Afghanistan.
