The Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan has deployed field kitchens for the population in Tashkent due to the cold weather
Military field kitchens have been deployed in Tashkent for the population due to the ongoing cold weather, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan reported on Tuesday.
According to weather forecasters, since January 10, the air temperature in Uzbekistan has dropped to minus 19-20 degrees at night, and to 8-15 degrees of frost in the afternoon. Last weekend, the cold weather in the country began to gradually recede.
"Due to the sharp cold snap, the Ministry of Defense has established the activities of military field kitchens in various places of Tashkent," the message on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan reads.
In the kitchens deployed in all 11 districts of the capital of Uzbekistan, residents are treated to hot tea and food, the agency notes. There, people are also given books, board chess and checkers for a useful pastime at home.
On Monday, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev dismissed the khokim (mayor) of Tashkent Jahongir Artykhodzhayev for insufficient preparation for winter. Chairman of the Thermal Power Plants company Farkhod Abdurakhmanov and Deputy Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev were also dismissed.
