The World Bank has updated the forecast of global economic growth for 2023, reducing this indicator from 3% to 1.7%, the official website of the World Bank reports.

The published report "Global Economic Prospects" notes that unexpected high inflation, a sharp increase in interest rates to contain it, as well as issues of global epidemiological security may push the world economy into recession.

"The development crisis is intensifying as the prospects for global growth deteriorate. <...> Weak growth and business investment will exacerbate already devastating changes in education, healthcare, poverty and infrastructure, as well as growing needs due to climate change," said WB Group President David Malpass.

A revision of the decline in economic growth is expected in 95% of developed countries, as well as 70% of emerging or emerging economies.

According to the World Bank, Turkmenistan is one of the leaders in terms of GDP growth in the world, which averages more than 6% per year.
