Russia hopes to participate in AFC games in case of accelerated exit from UEFA

The Secretary General of the Russian Football Union Maxim Mitrofanov announced the possibility of joining the Asian Football Confederation and participating in Asian qualifying matches after leaving UEFA, reports Champion.com.

"UEFA will be able to make a decision on speeding up the exit. And in this situation, there is still hope for a transition. The possibility of admission to the AFC at the congress in September in order to start qualifying games in Asia in November remains," the RFU Secretary General said.

The head of the football union expressed hope that Russia and UEFA will be able to reach an agreement on withdrawal in other terms in order to be in time for the qualifying games.
