Saudi Arabia is cancelling coronavirus restrictions on performing Hajj this year. This was stated by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq al-Rabia at the opening of the Hajj Expo 2023 conference, adding that the number of pilgrims will return to what it was before the pandemic.
Age restrictions on performing Hajj will also be lifted.
"Last year, about 900 thousand pilgrims visited holy places, while before the pandemic this figure was equal to 2.5 million," the minister said.
Before the pandemic, pilgrims had to be between the ages of 18 and 65, be vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide a negative test for coronavirus.
