A new point of growth: Turkmenistan and China are preparing an agreement on transport


The need to accelerate the approval of the draft Agreement between the governments of Turkmenistan and China on international road transport was noted in a joint statement signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of China Xi Jinping following talks in Beijing.
"Infrastructural interconnectedness is a new point of growth in the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China," the statement reads. In this context, the need to promote cooperation between the two countries in the field of connecting roads and cross-border transport, to increase the number of flights and the volume of rail container traffic on the route China-Kyrgyzstan-Turkmenistan-Iran and multimodal transport in the direction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan- Turkmenistan was indicated.
At the same time, the importance of interaction within the framework of CAREC, OSJD and other multilateral mechanisms was noted. In addition, China expressed readiness to assist Turkmenistan in accelerating the construction of transport infrastructure and the creation of a modern transport and logistics system.
