The Ethereum blockchain has overtaken Bitcoin in terms of the total volume of transactions in 2022 by more than 4 times, Cointelegraph reports.

According to public data, 338% more transactions were made with Ethereum (408.5 million) than with Bitcoin (93.1 million) last year.

Ethereum overtakes Bitcoin in the new year as well: the number of Ethereum transactions on January 2 is 4 times more than Bitcoin for the same period.

At the same time, Bitcoin remains the most popular cryptocurrency and has retained the first place in online search.

Transaction volumes in the Bitcoin network are more stable and periodic, while in Ethereum there is constant volatility (strong price fluctuations). This is caused by a surge in demand at a certain time and the same sharp decline.
