The Tax Free system has been launched for tourists at the airports of Uzbekistan

In five Uzbek airports - Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Ferghana and Urgench, on January 2, the grand opening of Tax Free counters was held, where foreign tourists can get cashback for purchases. They were installed by the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan and are currently operating in test mode, the press service of Uzbekistan Airports reports.
The Tax Free system implies a refund to foreign citizens of the VAT amounts paid by them when purchasing certain types of goods in Uzbekistan. The range of products covered by cashback includes souvenirs, nuts, fruits and dried fruits, leather and fur items, carpets, textiles and much more.
VAT refund can be obtained by registering in the Soliq mobile application and scanning receipts for purchases made in it. When departing at the airport, the passenger needs to check in for the flight, then contact the staff of the Tax Free counter, presenting the boarding pass and the goods themselves.
The total amount of purchases falling under the Tax Free system must be at least 1 million soums. Also, the product should not be opened and used. Employees of the tax committee, after checking the compliance of the goods with all the criteria, issue cashback.
For various categories of goods, the passenger can refund up to 90% of the VAT amount. Cashback is issued to the passenger's card and paid after the 25th day following the month in which the refund was registered.
