China will account for almost half of the growth in Russian gas exports in 2023

Russia is preparing to increase natural gas supplies to the Asian energy markets. Western experts believe that China will become the main consumer of Russian gas, which will account for 40% of the growth in exports of natural gas, Euronews reports.
The TV channel reports that by the end of 2022, Russian gas exports to foreign markets fell by almost half — by 45%, reaching 101 billion cubic meters. The reduction in production was 20%.
The Kovyktinskoye field, discovered in December in the Irkutsk region, opens up new opportunities to meet the growing demand of the Chinese economy for energy resources.
At the moment, Turkmenistan is the largest supplier of pipeline gas to China. In January-November 2022, Turkmen blue fuel worth $9.28 billion was exported.
