Gazprom can send free volumes of gas to China, some CIS countries and Turkey, as well as export liquefied natural gas (LNG) and produce hydrogen and ammonia for supplies to European countries. Sergey Kapitonov, an analyst at the Project Center for Energy Transition and ESG Skoltech, said this in a commentary to RIA Novosti.

“On ways to diversify (supplies of Gazprom) - of course, China. The second big way is the construction of LNG plants. The third is niche cooperation in the markets of the CIS countries, primarily in Central Asia and Azerbaijan. The fourth option is cooperation with Azerbaijan and Iran within the framework of the Turkish gas hub,” Kapitonov said.

"The fifth, which is probably the most strategic, is the diversification of not just the direction of supplies, but the products of supplies: the production of hydrogen, ammonia, which may be in demand in Europe, which assumes climate obligations and refuses fossil energy sources," the agency's interlocutor added.

According to Kapitonov, work schemes are possible in the CIS countries, for example, in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The first, he said, reduces gas supplies, while it has high export obligations, including to China, and it is possible that fuel in Uzbekistan will be needed for the domestic market. The second announced an increase in supplies to Europe, and there is also possible consumption of Russian gas on the domestic market.
