Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in the third session of the Technical Body for the Implementation of the Customs Convention on the International Carriage of Goods using TIR Carnets.

Among the key issues on the agenda of the meeting was the introduction of the electronic International TIR Information System (eTIR), an important tool for the activities of Customs authorities.

The eTIR international system is designed to ensure the safe exchange of data on the international transit of goods, vehicles or containers between national Customs authorities in accordance with the provisions of the TIR Convention.

Among the main advantages of the system are accuracy in the delivery of goods, the ability to bring goods to market faster and receive more significant income, the ability to register TIR transports in real time, increased security, etc.

The system has already been implemented in many countries of the region — Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Pakistan.
