Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin may travel to Central Asia in early 2023, Alexander Sternik, director of the third department of the CIS countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“At the very beginning of next year, the head of our government is scheduled to visit the region, where the conversation will continue regarding both mutually beneficial contracts and new routes and international transport corridors,” he said at the Valdai Discussion Club.

According to Sternik, the Central Asian countries are striving to build equal relations with both Russia and other major players in the region. “I would argue with the thesis that relations between Russia and Central Asia are not as active now as they were a year earlier. Even if we take dry statistics, we can pay attention to the fact that in 2021 we had about 57 visits, meetings and contacts at the highest and high levels. This year, almost 10 more – 66,” he added.
