Turkmenistan is studying the experience of creating a national system for responding to gender-based violence
Representatives of public organizations, relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan discussed the creation of a national system for responding to violence against women in the country during a seminar organized in Ashgabat by UNDP and UNFPA.
The seminar was held within the framework of the international campaign "16 days of activism against gender-based violence", according to a press release of the UNDP in Turkmenistan.
Head of the International Relations Department of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy in Turkmenistan Shemshat Atajanova noted at the event that the work carried out in the country in this area is in line with the National Action Plan for Gender Equality, which includes strengthening the system of multisectoral response to violence against women.
Participants also reviewed regional experiences in responding to gender-based violence. In particular, an international expert of the UNDP representative office in Uzbekistan shared the experience of this country in creating an appropriate national system.
