Trans-Adriatic Pipeline to double capacity by 2027

The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, will increase its capacity to 20 billion cubic meters of gas by 2027 thanks to investments in the overhaul of the branch, said Luca Shippati, managing director of TAP AG, in an interview with the Interfax news agency.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has already expressed its interest in implementing the project and is ready to invest in it. In particular, we are talking about installing compressors in Greece and Albania to intensify gas pumping to the southern European energy market.
After modernization, the branch line through which Azerbaijani gas flows will also be able to transport 10% of hydrogen in the case of a small modification of TAP.
The modernization of the Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline will significantly saturate the Europa gas market along the Southern Gas Corridor, which Turkmenistan also has prospects for connecting to.
