Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Turkmenistan on December 13-14, 2022 to attend the summit of the presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan - a statement about this was published on Monday evening on the official website of the Turkish leader.

“On the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, at the Summit to be held in Avaza on Wednesday, December 14, with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as well as President of Turkey, steps to be taken to further deepen cooperation between the three friendly and fraternal countries, in particularly in trade, energy and transport will be discussed,” the press release reads.

"On the occasion of the summit, various agreements will be signed that will strengthen the legal framework for cooperation in the above areas," the release says.

Bilateral meetings will also take place on the sidelines of the summit, the press service of the Turkish president added.

Earlier, Erdogan said that at the Avaza summit he plans to discuss the creation of a gas hub in his country.

The day before, on December 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Among other issues, the parties emphasized the special importance of joint energy projects, primarily in the gas industry.

“Taking into account the results of recent talks in Istanbul by Alexei Miller, Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom, the exchange of views on the initiative to create a regional gas hub in Turkey has been continued,” the website Kremlin.ru reports.

On December 12, Putin also made a telephone call to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev; there are brief identical messages about this on the websites of both heads of state.
