Uzbekistan increased electricity imports from Turkmenistan by 17% due to cold weather


Uzbekistan has increased electricity imports from Turkmenistan due to an increase in domestic consumption during the cold weather, the press service of the Uzbek Ministry of Energy reported on Friday.
Earlier, the Uzbek authorities decided to step up the import of gas, electricity, coal and fuel oil due to a shortage of energy resources against the background of the cold weather in the country.
"In order to increase the volume of electricity supply to Uzbek consumers, the daily import of electricity from the Turkmenenergo Corporation has been increased from 17-18 million kW.up to 20-21 million kWh," the message in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan says. Thus, import growth averaged 17%.
