The Kremlin announced an informal summit of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg at the end of December


Traditionally, an informal summit of leaders of the CIS countries is planned to be held at the end of December. This time the friendly meeting will take place in St. Petersburg. This was announced on Thursday at a briefing by Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for International Affairs.
An informal meeting of the Council of Heads of State is convened on the initiative of at least one of the CIS member states and is held in the format proposed by the initiating country. The proposals and wishes of the meeting participants are also taken into account.
Such meetings of the heads of the CIS have been held since 2005 and, as a rule, without an official agenda. Within the framework of the summit, bilateral and trilateral negotiations of the heads of the Commonwealth states are held.
