The Caspian Sea has once again amazed Instagram users with its stunning views. Azamat Sarsenbaev, a resident of Aktau and the author of numerous videos about the nature of Kazakhstan, recently published a video of a partially ice-covered sea. “This year the frosts hit especially hard. Even the Caspian Sea is unable to withstand the winter,” Sarsenbaev wrote under the video.
The Caspian Sea is technically a lake, it is called the world's largest enclosed body of water, which can be classified as the largest closed lake or as a sea - due to its size (approximately 390,000 square kilometers), origin, depth, salinity, and also due to for the fact that its bed is formed by the earth's crust of the oceanic type.
Among the five coastal states, Kazakhstan has the longest coastline - about 2320 kilometers. In second place is Turkmenistan - 1200 kilometers. Azerbaijan has 955 kilometers, Iran - 724 kilometers, Russia - 695 kilometers.
