Turkmenistan will provide benefits for port services to Kyrgyz road carriers


Turkmenistan is ready to provide Kyrgyzstan with preferential tariffs for port services for transit cargo. The issue of cancellation of transit fees from road carriers is also being discussed. This is reported in the report published on the website of the Ministry of Transport of the Kyrgyz Republic on Tuesday on the working visit of the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic Tilek Tekebayev to Turkmenistan.
In the port of Turkmenbashi, Tekebayev met with the chairman of the agency "Turkmendenizderyaellary" Annadurdy Kosayev. The importance of launching an alternative multimodal route Kyrgyz Republic – Republic of Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan (port of Turkmenbashi) was noted at the meeting–Russian Federation (port of Astrakhan).
"The Turkmen side replied that they are ready to consider preferential tariffs for port services for transit cargo on this route. Currently, 4 berths are involved, of which 3 berths for road transport and 1 berth for rail transport," the information says.
The Russian side is ready to provide ferries for this corridor to Kyrgyz carriers. Initially, it is planned to transport 50-60 vehicles daily for transportation from the port of Turkmenbashi to Astrakhan. In the future, it is planned to establish container transportation with the use of the port of Makhachkala.
The meeting of the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic with the Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakiyev took place in Ashgabat.
In particular, they discussed holding a 4-party meeting with the participation of Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan to activate the named alternative route, as well as the possible cancellation of fees for transit through the territory of Turkmenistan.
