Yekaterinburg is waiting for teams from 22 countries to attend the International Student Sports Festival

Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that more than 4,000 athletes from 22 countries will take part in a multi-sport event called the International Student Sports Festival, which will be held in Yekaterinburg next year.
More than 4,000 athletes aged 17 to 23 from 22 countries, including Turkmenistan, are expected to participate in the festival. 193 medals will be awarded in 14 sports.
The Russian city was supposed to host the World Student Games of the International Student Sports Federation (FISU), but its hosting rights were suspended.
Matytsin is also the elected president of the FISU, but last year refused to participate for the duration of doping sanctions that do not allow Russian government officials to hold positions in the international governing body that signed the World Anti-Doping Code.
The International Student Sports Festival is scheduled for the same dates as originally set aside for the FISU Games — from August 8 to August 19, 2023.
The FISU 2023 Games in Chengdu, China are now scheduled for the period from July 28 to August 8, 2023, and last month Matytsin announced that he was seeking China's support for Russia's participation.
