Central Asian countries and India discuss strengthening ties between states
The Central Asian countries and India discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in the economy, trade and culture, as well as in the field of defense and security. This was reported by the Ani news agency following the meeting of the National Security Adviser of India Ajit Doval with his Central Asian colleagues.
On the sidelines of the talks, it was stated that India considers the countries of Central Asia as the heart of Asia and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The parties also discussed the integration of the Iranian port of Chahbehar into the International Transport Corridor "North-South" to improve communication between India and Central Asia.
According to the Hindustan Times, Turkmenistan was represented at the talks by the country's diplomatic mission in India headed by Ambassador Shalar Geldynazarov.
The meeting was held within the framework of the Central Asia – India dialogue format, which was given an impetus in January of this year following the results of negotiations between presidents of Central Asian countries with the Prime Minister of India.
