Russian Federation Council: "North-South "is a key solution for reorienting cargo traffic towards Asia

The Russian Federation Council has announced the key role of the North-South International Transport Route in reorienting Russian cargo traffic towards Asia and the Middle East.
This is reported by the official website of the Federation Council following a round table discussion on the development of linear navigation on inland waterways and the effective use of the opportunities of inland water transport for the development of cargo and passenger transportation in Russia.
"The current geopolitical situation leads us to the fact that it is necessary to reorient cargo flows towards the countries of Asia and the Middle East. And here one of the key decisions will be the implementation of the North – South international transport corridor project, which has already been repeatedly discussed at the Federation Council, " said Ivan Abramov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy.
During the event, the senators discussed full funding, as well as state support for shipping and shipbuilding and the formation of a regulatory framework for the redistribution of cargo flows.
