Turkmen weightlifters are the prize-winners of the international tournament in Turkey


Weightlifters from Turkmenistan won 8 medals at the international tournament in memory of multiple world, European and Olympic champion Naim Suleymanoglu, which ended in Ankara. This is reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Ogulgerek Amanova, who competed in the weight category up to 55 kg, brought three silver medals in the snatch, clean and jerk and two–man event to the piggy bank of the Turkmen team. In total , Ogulgerek lifted 155 kg .
Atajan Dayiyev, a 3rd–year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, was awarded three more - one silver and two bronze awards. Speaking in the weight category over 109 kg, the Turkmen mastered 156 kg in the snatch and became the second in this discipline, and 190 kg in the clean and jerk, showing the third result. As a result, having gained 346 kg in the total of the two-man event, Atajan became the second in the tournament.
Hydyrberdy Yagmyrov won two bronze medals — in the clean and jerk (149 kg) and the two-man event (274 kg). He competed in the weight category up to 67 kg.
Athletes from France, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Slovenia, Spain and other countries also performed at the tournament.
Naim Suleymanoglu is considered a legend of weightlifting. During his athletic career, he set 46 world records.
