The first quarterly dialogue between the Government of Turkmenistan, representatives of the private sector and civil society on adaptation to climate change was held in Ashgabat.

The meeting discussed such important topics as Turkmenistan's national policy on sustainable water resources management, consideration of water resources management issues in the digital land cadastre, as well as academic research on remote spectral monitoring in agricultural fields. In this context, private companies shared their experience in this field.

Adaptation to climate change requires coordinated actions by a large number of stakeholders. As leaders in innovation, private sector actors are increasingly seen as integral participants in the national adaptation planning process.

An important element of the national adaptation process is the prevention of gender and social inequality, therefore, enterprises are encouraged to apply a gender-oriented approach when developing adaptation measures.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the project named "Development of the national adaptation planning Process in Turkmenistan", which is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program with the financial support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
