CAREC Ministers approve green recovery initiatives in the post-pandemic period

The countries of Central and West Asia have approved three new initiatives in the field of cross-border cooperation, designed to help accelerate the recovery of the region after the COVID-19 pandemic, improve food security and stimulate the development of clean energy.

This was reported at the 21st CAREC Ministerial Conference, which was held with the online participation of the delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy of the country Mukhammetgeldi Serdarov.

The Ministers of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan approved the following initiatives during the conference:

– framework program for ecological, sustainable and inclusive post-pandemic recovery,
– framework program of cooperation in the field of agricultural development and food security,
– agreement on the CAREC Green Energy Alliance.

As part of these initiatives, the CAREC countries will be able to cooperate more closely in various areas to overcome the effects of COVID-19, establish international food trade and finance renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in the region.

The CAREC program is a partnership of countries working together to promote sustainable development and aims to accelerate economic growth and reduce poverty in the region.
