The new law of Turkmenistan regulates the procedure for notarization of electronic documents


The new Law of Turkmenistan "On Notarization and Notarial activity" now establishes the procedure and legal force of notarized electronic documents, follows from the text of the law published today in the official Turkmen press.
The law gives notaries the authority to certify electronic documents, including on a civil transaction by applying an electronic digital signature.
The relevant article of the law also refers to electronic documents that cannot be submitted as an original. They include:
– a certificate of inheritance,
– a document that, in accordance with the legislation of Turkmenistan, can be created in the original only in a single copy
– other documents provided for by the legislation of Turkmenistan.
At the same time, it is noted that a copy of an electronic document on paper and an electronic copy of a document on a digital drive, identical in content and details, have the same legal force.
