The participants of the 18th European Union—Central Asia Ministerial Meeting confirmed their desire to strengthen trade and economic cooperation to overcome existing crises, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports following the meeting.

Within the framework of multilateral negotiations, the Regional Program "Green Agenda" for Central Asian countries was presented, the possibilities of opening branches of European universities in Central Asian countries and launching pilot projects on joint scientific research were discussed.

The parties considered concrete measures to increase mutual trade turnover, develop green energy, effectively use EU preferences under various programs and support small and medium-sized businesses.

The two countries also discussed security issues, in particular the problems of Afghanistan and the need to continue the political and diplomatic dialogue.

The meeting was attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel and high-ranking officials of the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
