The head of "Turkmensvyaz" spoke about projects for the development of the telecommunications industry


The International Forum on Telecommunications, Telemetry, Information Technologies and Broadcasting Equipment – "TurkmenTel-2022" is being held in Ashgabat, in the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In the afternoon, the conference began, which brought together Turkmen participants and about 100 foreign delegates from 30 organizations and companies representing 18 countries in a hybrid format.
The first plenary session entitled "Development of information and communication technologies - a key factor in the digitalization of the socio–economic sphere of Turkmenistan" opened with a speech by Mammethan Chakiyev, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers.

Among the key speakers was also the chairman of the agency "Turkmensvyaz" Khadzhimyrat Khudaigulyev, who outlined the state and prospects for further development of the telecommunications industry of Turkmenistan in the context of sustainable development and the formation of the digital economy.
The agency "Turkmensvyaz" has launched large-scale projects for the technical support of these tasks and the formation of infrastructure corresponding to their scale. These projects are aimed at creating a comprehensive communication system based on advanced technologies, increasing the volume, quality and range of communication services, along with providing broadband Internet access in the most remote corners of the country.
To expand and modernize the Internet multiservice data transmission network, equipment worth more than 80 million US dollars was purchased and installed.
In order to fully and universally provide Turkmenistan with mobile communications, including 4G, equipment worth more than 100 million US dollars was purchased. Also, in order to fully cover all settlements with radio programs, radio transmitters worth more than 15 million US dollars have been put into operation. Work is underway to expand the fixed-line network, modernize the existing intra-zone transport network in the amount of more than 30 million US dollars.

Particular attention is paid to increasing the transit capacity of Internet traffic. Turkmenistan has installed 8 interstate joints of the fiber-optic line.
The telecommunications company Turkmentelecom and Azertelecom LLC are working on a project to lay a fiber-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea between the cities of Turkmenbashi and Siazan.
Ensuring information and cybersecurity is a top priority for modern society. This is a rather complex and multifunctional process that depends on both external and internal factors.
In this regard, one of the sessions of the current conference is devoted to the topic "Information security in the era of digital transformation".
The plenary session was also attended by President of SSI-MonacoSat Ilgami Aigyun, Director of the Regional Office for the CIS of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Natalia Mochu, Director General of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RSS) Nurudin Mukhitdinov, Director General of the International Postal Union (UPU) Mashahiko Metoki.

Zhao Lei, President of Huawei Eurasia CNBG, Demetrio Russo, Nokia Vice President for Turkey and Central Asia, Javad Mottagi, Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, and Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Permanent Representative in Turkmenistan, shared their vision of cooperation with Turkmenistan.
