The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of the Economic Committee of the C5+1 format


The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of the country Serdar Joraev, took part in the next online meeting of the Working Committee on Economic Issues of the C5+1 format (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the USA).
The participants of the meeting discussed issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia-USA multilateral format, noting great prospects for further expansion of cooperation.
In his speech at the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan stressed the need to focus on the sustainable development of trade in the region, noting the great importance in this context of digitalization of relevant processes in Central Asia.
As reported during the online meeting, the US has recently invested about $15.2 million in projects to improve the economy of Central Asia. Some of these funds were directed to the development of transport and transit corridors. The US Department of Commerce provided technical support to the Central Asian countries to promote trade, investment and the development of economic relations between the countries of the region.
The second session of the meeting was held in the format of an open discussion, during which the participants were given the opportunity to express their opinions and make proposals on the promotion of foreign investment in Central Asia. The discussion was moderated by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.
At the session, the Turkmen side noted the importance of developing regional infrastructure projects, improving the legal framework and investment environment, as well as agreeing on a common strategy for attracting investments by Central Asian countries.
