The EU-CA format events will be held in Samarkand in mid-November


The Ministerial meeting in the format "European Union – Central Asia" and the EU–CA International Conference on Interconnectedness "Global Gateway for Sustainable Development" will be held in Samarkand next month – November 17-18.
The event will be attended by the foreign ministers of the five Central Asian countries, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel, the EU Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen, high-ranking officials of the EU member states, international financial institutions and the private sector, experts.
During the ministerial meeting, it is planned to discuss topical issues of the development of cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the EU in the fields of economy, trade, investment, environment, water resources, climate, as well as in the field of countering modern challenges and threats.
The first EU-CA Youth Forum will also be held on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting.
The EU–Central Asia International Conference is aimed at developing cooperation in order to promote sustainable interconnectedness in accordance with the EU Global Gateway initiative, developing coordinated measures to support green development and recovery from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The main topics that will be discussed during this conference are: how to improve digital communication — in this direction, the European Union is financing a number of projects; how to develop the transport network more efficiently; and the third issue concerns water management issues and energy.
The Samarkand EU Conference on Sustainable Connectivity with Central Asia will be the first regional conference within the framework of the new EU strategy "Global Gateway", adopted on December 1, 2021.
