President of Uzbekistan arrives in Ashgabat for a visit
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Ashgabat on Thursday evening for an official visit.
At the international airport of the Turkmen capital, the distinguished guest was met by Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Atdaev and other officials.
The main events of the visit are scheduled for tomorrow, October 21. According to the program of the visit, on Friday, October 21, Turkmen-Uzbek summit talks will be held, the agenda of which includes topical issues of bilateral and regional agenda.
Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev will discuss ways to deepen interstate relations in the new conditions of economic integration, consider ways to expand mutual trade, cooperative ties in industry, energy and the chemical industry, agriculture, transport and logistics.
It is expected that more than ten documents on priority areas of cooperation will be signed.
The opening of the Tashkent park in Ashgabat and the joint launch of a project for the construction of the “Khorezm-Dashoguz” Border Trade Center are also planned.
The current level of cooperation in this area is characterized by positive dynamics: mutual cooperation in the automotive, electrical, textile and pharmaceutical industries, food industry and agriculture is expanding, partnership in the chemical industry has reached a strategic level.
An Uzbek-Turkmen border trading zone is being created, a corresponding decision has been made to open trading houses in the capitals of our countries. A medium-term program for the development of trade and economic cooperation and industrial cooperation was developed, a decision was made to establish a Joint Project Office in order to promote the most promising projects. The Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan has prepared an infographic that reflects the indicators of foreign trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, including the volume of exports and imports by product categories in 2021 and January-August 2022.
