Russia is ready to provide practical assistance in creating a unified energy system in Central Asia, the Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Russia–Central Asia summit on Friday.

Turkmenistan, which generates electricity from natural gas, is one of the main suppliers of electricity in the region, supplying it to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran and Afghanistan. At the same time, the country has a significant potential for energy supply to third countries through transit through neighboring republics.

In this context, it is obvious that the Turkmen energy complex will play a crucial role in the process of building energy security in Central Asia.
