The FIRST Global Challenge is an annual robotics competition held in the spirit of the Olympic Games. This year, the FIRST Global Challenge for the first time after two years in an online format is held in person in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 13 to 16.

The FIRST Global Challenge provides an opportunity for young people around the world to use new technologies, their knowledge and abilities, to cooperate, collectively solving the most pressing problems on the planet. The event is a kind of finale and culmination of the annual work of student teams that design and assemble robots to perform thematic tasks in a playful way.

The competitions in Geneva are already the sixth in a row and are held in Europe for the first time. The previous FIRST Global Challenge were organized in the USA, Mexico, and the UAE. This year, young people from more than 180 countries are participating in the Swiss Robotics Olympiad.

Turkmenistan is represented in Geneva by a team of five young enthusiasts, known as "Oguz Robot". As the guys from the Turkmen team themselves say, participation in the FIRST Global Challenge over the past 5 years has given them a huge experience in understanding and implementing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in everyday life.

"The FIRST Global Challenge was a turning point for our group, helped us understand the true meaning of robotics, teamwork, STEM, innovation and global communication. Having taken the 6th place last year, we began to participate in numerous international and national robotics competitions, received a large number of prizes and awards. This year will be completely different, because the competition is now held in full-time format. The national team of Turkmenistan started preparing for the FIRST Global Challenge a long time ago, in December last year. One of the stages of preparation was the holding of the "Oguz Robot Fest" in Turkmenistan in May. The event brought us together even more and showed the importance of real teamwork. This year in Geneva we will try to take an even higher final place compared to the last FIRST Global Challenge," the participants of the Turkmen team said.
