Ukraine considers Turkmenistan as a key partner in Central Asia, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Viktor Maiko said in an interview with the Neutral Turkmenistannewspaper on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"Through joint efforts, we have managed to achieve impressive results in implementing large-scale projects of national significance, including with the involvement of reputable Ukrainian companies," the Ambassador said.

Maiko listed a number of important projects being implemented in Turkmenistan today with the participation of Ukrainian business. These include the construction of a road bridge across the Garabogaz Bay in the Balkan region in partnership with Altcom Road Construction Company, 3D and 2D studies of oil and gas fields in western Turkmenistan with the participation of Yug-Neftegaz, etc.

The head of the diplomatic mission noted that the interest of Ukrainian businesses in the Turkmen market is increasing every year, and the opening of branches and representative offices of Ukrainian companies, as well as the creation of joint ventures with Turkmenistan in the country will have a positive effect on the development of the economies of both countries.

In order to increase the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Ukraine, Maiko called for the activation of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation, as well as the creation of a Business Council within its framework, which will include managers and representatives of the most active companies.

At the same time, the head of the diplomatic mission noted the importance of creating new transport and logistics routes, the development of which will increase the trade turnover between the two countries by an order of magnitude, and also expressed Ukraine's interest in partnering with Turkmenistan in implementing smart cities projects - the new administrative center of the Ahal region and Ashgabat City.

On his own behalf and on behalf of the Ukrainian people, the Ambassador of Ukraine once again expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for their great solidarity and the provision of humanitarian assistance on April 26, 2022 during a difficult period for the country.
