UNICEF promotes flour fortification in Turkmenistan

According to a press release from the UNICEF Representative Office in Turkmenistan, the third and final batch of premix imported to Turkmenistan as part of the UNICEF Program for fortifying flour with useful trace elements and sponsored by the Government of the country will arrive by the end of the year.

The strategy to enrich flour with trace elements, according to the Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Turkmenistan Alexandru Nertea, will help to fill the iron and folic acid deficiency, and, as a result, to improve the health of the population of Turkmenistan, especially women and children.

Turkmenistan annually purchases about 120 tons of premix to enrich flour with microelements and vitamins within the framework of the UNICEF program and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The organization actively promotes its programs in Turkmenistan, cooperating with the Ministry of Agriculture and individual millers.
