Asia-Pacific Forum delegation evaluates the Ombudsman's Office in Turkmenistan


A delegation of the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions arrived in Turkmenistan to assess the capacity of the Ombudsman's Office, the results of which will serve to develop a Strategic Work Plan for the country's Ombudsman.
On Wednesday, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held an introductory meeting within the framework of the delegation's visit to Ashgabat, the official website of the Service reports.
The parties discussed the activities aimed at ensuring legal norms and protecting the rights of citizens by the customs authorities of Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that the activities of the Turkmen customs service are based on the principles of legality, equality before the law, and respect for the rights and freedoms of citizens in accordance with international law.
It was noted that decisions of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and its officials are subject to appeal in accordance with the country's legislation. So, since the beginning of 2022, about 30 applications from citizens have been considered, and all of them were resolved satisfactorily.
