Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in an informal meeting of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which was held on Friday in St. Petersburg. The summit was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Welcoming his colleagues, Vladimir Putin noted that such informal meetings of CIS leaders in the Northern Capital of Russia are becoming a good tradition and allow exchanging views on the most pressing issues for all our countries in a calm, friendly atmosphere.
"Today we have the opportunity to check the clock before the annual full-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Astana next week," he said, adding that a solid package of joint documents is being prepared for approval.
Both at the current meeting and at the summit in Astana, priority attention will be paid to the further development of trade and investment partnership within the CIS, increasing the stability of economies, in particular through building up bilateral and multilateral cooperation ties, to ensure technological sovereignty, the Russian leader said.
