Heads of delegations of the countries participating in the II Caspian Economic Forum held a meeting
Moscow hosted a meeting of the heads of delegations of the II Caspian Economic Forum participating countries in a narrow format with the participation of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alihan Smailov, First Vice President of Iran Mohammad Mohber and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov.
Mikhail Mishustin, speaking at the meeting, noted that the Russian Federation accepts the duty of holding meetings in this format from Turkmenistan, which organized the first forum on August 12, 2019 in Turkmenbashi.
He also drew the attention of his colleagues that the current meeting is taking place in follow-up to the sixth Caspian Summit, which was held in Ashgabat on June 29, where the heads of states discussed the most important issues of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, put forward a number of new initiatives in the economic, trade, energy, transport and cultural spheres, as well as a large number of initiatives in the ecological sphere.
In this context, he suggested agreeing in a narrow format on the parameters of joint work to fulfill the tasks set by the leaders of the Caspian states, and considering the most promising economic projects that can be launched in the "five" format.
"We have a big, meaningful agenda. I am confident that as a result of today's meeting, we will come up with absolutely concrete decisions that will give a new impulse to the development of multifaceted cooperation in the Caspian region and will ultimately contribute to improving the well – being of the citizens of our states," Mishustin said.
More than a thousand participants have registered to participate in the second Caspian Economic Forum – not only from the Russian Federation and the five Caspian countries, but also from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, according to the website of the Russian government.
The forum discusses key issues of trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation in the Caspian region. The main focus is on joint projects in the field of transport infrastructure, energy , environmental protection, as well as the development of interregional cooperation and cultural and humanitarian ties.
