The Turkmen delegation takes part in the conference of the International Telecommunication Union


The Turkmen delegation took part in the opening of the conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Bucharest, Romania, where the new head of the organization Dorin Bogdan-Martin was elected, the ITU website reports.
A working group consisting of the diplomatic corps of Turkmenistan in Romania will discuss priority tasks in the field of telecommunications at the meeting.
In her statement, the newly elected head of ITU noted the importance of providing the world's population with access to the Internet, which today about 2.7 billion people do not have. She stated that she would continue the course of digitalization of the environment and the achievements of the UN SDGs.
The Plenipotentiary Conference-2022 will last until October 14. It will discuss important issues related to global telecommunications and information and communication technologies. This is the largest UN unit in the field of digitalization, which meets every four years to form the Presidium of the Union and develop its strategic development plans for the next 4 years.
