A solemn meeting of the State Council dedicated to the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and summing up the country's path, defining new goals and objectives was held in Ashgabat on Friday.

The meeting was attended by the leadership, representatives of the legislative branch of government, public associations and all segments of the population, including young people. Regional centers of the country have connected to the capital via video link.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in his speech at the State Council, said that the strategic programs and sectoral plans implemented in Turkmenistan increase the country's authority in the world and promote its economic positions. All these achievements serve to improve the quality and standard of living of the Turkmen people.

The Head of State stated that Turkmenistan will continue its course of independent development and neutrality, the implementation of the national economic model, and will continue to build friendly, fraternal relations with neighboring countries, regional states and world powers.,

The country's economic and political strategies are aimed at growth and development, the Turkmen leader stressed. The President recalled that Turkmenistan's long-term socio-economic programs stipulate that 75-80% of the budget will be directed to such areas as healthcare, education, culture, housing construction, urban planning, raising salaries, pensions, scholarships and allowances, supporting vulnerable segments of the population, creating new jobs.
