“Demiryollary” Open Joint Stock Company has purchased 15 new freight diesel locomotives from the Chinese company CRRC Ziyang CO., LTD., an ORIENT correspondent reports.

On Tuesday, the first two locomotives arrived at the Ashgabat railway station, and the rest will continue to arrive in Turkmenistan in small batches until the end of January 2023.

New diesel locomotives will contribute to the implementation of the transport potential of Turkmenistan, increase the volume of transportation of domestic and transit cargo, as well as increase the speed of their transportation.

Each of the locomotives consists of two cars in a fixed coupler. Equipped with powerful diesel engines, diesel locomotives can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and carry colossal volumes of cargo. The power of the new locomotives is 1,600 kW higher compared to analogues previously used in Turkmenistan.

Also in November of this year, five more diesel locomotives of similar characteristics, produced at the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant, should arrive in the country.
