The head of Turkmenistan received the special representative of the government of China
On Wednesday, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Li Hui, Special Representative of the Chinese Government for Eurasian Affairs.
At the very beginning of the meeting, the diplomat conveyed greetings to the Turkmen leader from President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in response, conveyed good wishes to the Chinese leadership. He also expressed his condolences for the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. The meeting was reported in the evening newscast of the Turkmen State Radio and Television.
Then the parties exchanged views on the bilateral agenda. The President stressed that China was the first country in the world with which Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations. Over the past 30 years, these relations have reached a strategic level thanks to the political will of the top leadership of the two countries.
Today, this partnership is dynamically developing in bilateral and multilateral formats, including the “Central Asia-China” dialogue. Both countries support each other's initiatives on the platform of the UN and other international organizations.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Li Hui were unanimous that cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, historical ties of which date back to the period of the Great Silk Road, has great prospects in the future.
Today, China is a major trade and economic partner of Turkmenistan, and there is an impressive potential for expanding this interaction, and here an important role is assigned to the Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
In addition to the fuel and energy complex, which is traditionally included in the sphere of priority common interests, the transport and communications industry, the chemical industry, the textile industry, high technologies, as well as investment interaction were named among the key vectors of partnership.
The Special Representative of the People's Republic of China noted the great merit of Speaker of the Upper House of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in bringing the Turkmen-Chinese relations to a new stage and said that Xi Jinping also sent warm greetings to the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty.
