The Conference of Ministers of Transport of Landlocked countries will be held in a week, on August 15-16, in the city of Turkmenbashi, the resort area of Avaza. The main topic of the forum is "Financing to improve communication". The upcoming ministerial meeting will be a part of the preparations for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in 2024.

The Ministers and delegations will consider the crucial role of transport for recovery after COVID-19, mitigation of climate change and adaptation, share the vision, experience of their countries and innovative approaches and solutions for financing transport infrastructure, improving its maintenance, discuss the development of cooperation in the field of transport and connectivity to increase trade potential.

Sustainable transport is a lifeline for the modern economy and is at the heart of economic development. 32 landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) with a population of 533 million people have common problems due to their geographical location, which affects their economic interaction with the rest of the world. They need reliable transport infrastructure and efficient transit mechanisms to participate in world trade.
