Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid the foundation of a new bridge across the Garabogaz Bay

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the solemn ceremony of laying the foundation of a new automobile bridge across the Garabogaz Bay in the Balkan region, the country's official media write.

The project should be implemented by the Ukrainian company "Road Construction "Altcom", in accordance with the decree previously signed by the head of state.

The new bridge will become part of the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway, and should help increase trade between the countries and facilitate faster transit of goods through the Balkan region.

It is planned to put the facility into operation in June 2024.
