The World Sambo Championship will be held in Ashgabat in November 2025
The President of Turkmenistan signed a decree on Wednesday, according to which the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, together with the International Sambo Federation, will hold the World Sambo Championship in Ashgabat. The competitions will be held in November 2025, in the martial arts sports complex of the Olympic Town.
The document also established the organizing committee of the World Cup-25 in SAMBO and prescribed to involve students of Turkmen universities in volunteer activities as translators.
The holding of a major sports forum is aimed at further strengthening friendly ties and good-neighborly relations between peoples, popularization of physical culture and sports, healthy lifestyle, broad involvement of the younger generation in sports, increasing the international authority of Turkmenistan in the sports world, the preamble of the resolution published in the evening news of the Turkmen State Television says.
Turkmenistan was going to hold the World Sambo Championship in 2020, but due to the pandemic situation, the International Sambo Federation decided to postpone the date.
