Matvienko on behalf of Putin invited the President of Turkmenistan to visit Russia
Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko conveyed to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and confirmation of the invitation to visit Russia.
The Speaker of the Federation Council also congratulated the interlocutor on his election to the post of head of state earlier this year.
Valentina Matvienko noted that the visit of the Russian delegation to Turkmenistan in the year of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations is a landmark event. Bilateral relations are developing steadily in all spheres on a mutually respectful, mutually beneficial basis, on the basis of traditionally friendly ties, the head of the Russian Chamber of Regions noted.
In 2021, there was a slight decrease in the volume of mutual trade turnover, but in January-February of this year it increased by 74%, Matvienko stated. According to her, the Russian regions are showing great interest in expanding cooperation.
Valentina Matvienko noted the high level of organization of the first Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian and Russian countries in Ashgabat. According to her, the initiative to make this event a regular event with its secretariat in Ashgabat was supported.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted during the conversation that over the past three decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties, relations between the two countries have been successfully developing in various fields. He also spoke about the importance of further development of inter-parliamentary ties.
Chairman of the Upper house of the Turkmen Parliament — Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented the Order "For Contribution to the development of Cooperation" to the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko in Ashgabat on May 12.
The decree on awarding was signed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Also at the ceremony Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was awarded the jubilee medal of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States — "IPA CIS. 30 years".
