Turkmenistan and Tajikistan agreed to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue


Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali signed an agreement on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, the press service of the Parliament of Tajikistan reports.
The signing took place within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation in Ashgabat.
Speaking at the event, Rustam Emomali noted that the cooperation of national parliaments in the "Central Asia - Russia" format is of great importance and will further strengthen relations between the countries.
Later, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The interlocutors discussed the state of bilateral relations and expressed interest in expanding economic ties through the implementation of the Intergovernmental Program for Trade and Economic Cooperation.
In order to promote the strengthening of cultural ties, it was proposed to organize and hold Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Tajikistan in 2022-2023.
Rustam Emomali, on behalf of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, invited Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov to pay an official visit to Tajikistan. The invitation was accepted, the press service of the Parliament of Tajikistan said.
