The President of Turkmenistan congratulated veterans and all compatriots on Victory Day
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated veterans and the entire people of Turkmenistan on the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Victory Day is a holiday that reminds people of the need to live in peace, friendship and solidarity, helping to foster patriotism and humanism in generations, the President's address to compatriots says.
On May 9, at the Ashgabat memorial complex "People's Memory" ("Khalk Khakydasy"), at the monuments to soldiers in other cities and villages, Turkmen citizens will honor the memory of their countrymen who bravely fought shoulder to shoulder with representatives of fraternal peoples. Various events are timed to coincide with this day, including meetings with dear war veterans, who will be presented with gifts in gratitude for peace.
Turkmen soldiers showed incredible courage and fearlessness on the battlefield, while in the rear women, old men, children worked with great faith in victory, bringing it closer. Turkmen women also gave their gold and silver jewelry to the Defense Fund, the President recalled in his address.
The names of Turkmen citizens who gave their lives for peace are immortalized in the "Book of Memory". And the names of compatriots who have passed the roads of war and returned home are listed in the "Book of Glory".
