The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Central Asia and Russia discussed the expansion of cooperation


The fifth meeting of the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the format "Central Asia - Russia" was held on Friday on video communication, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Particular attention was paid to the joint strengthening of regional stability, the situation in Afghanistan, as well as the issues of food, cyber and biosafety, and export-import cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov noted at the meeting the importance of creating the conditions necessary for maintaining security in the region, mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation and cooperation in industry, transport, energy, health, environmental protection.
The Turkmen side also drew attention to the urgency of the Turkmen president's initiative to create a regional center for virology and bacteriology, which will facilitate the consolidation of joint solutions in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Central Asia.
The participants called for the expansion of the Central Asia-Russia dialogue mechanism into separate spheres of mutual interest, including energy, transport, sanitary and epidemiological welfare, national security at the ministerial and departmental levels.
